Parfois les émissions de télé réalité ont des dommages collatéraux curieux. Ainsi, une candidate malheureuse à American Idol (une sorte de "nouvelle star") s'est faite la chanteuse attitrée du mouvement "Tea Party" (voir l'article sur le sujet).

Cette mère de trois enfants se présente comme une "épouse, mère, patriote et croyante dévouée" sur son site.
